For everything there is a “Time and Season”, when we trust and obey God’s Word
– Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 (NIV)
God’s Word can be mysterious until it is revealed by the Holy Spirit. As we are living our lives, we experience times when we don’t understand why or how the things we have been praying for and believing for will come to fruition. There are also times when the things we believe for will not come to pass. It is times like these when God’s Word shows us the way. In the 3rd chapter of Ecclesiastes, He tells us “There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens. A time to be born and a time to die, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh.”
This scripture rings loud to me. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 30 years old. She battled with it for 6 years until she passed in January 2023. As a father of five girls, I found myself asking God, “Why did you take my daughter at so young of age?” I found myself getting frustrated with God.
As a father, I wanted to fix her health and not see her suffer but I soon realized I could not. I told God that she was obedient to His word and that she loved and worshiped Him. I even came to a point of anger towards God saying, “Why won’t you heal her right now?” That is when the HOLY SPIRIT spoke to my spirit and said, “stop putting a question mark, where God has put a period”. It was at that time I understood “a time to be born and a time to die” (Eccles. 3:2). I was set free of the frustration and questioning of God’s plan for her and mine. It has now become for me a peace that surpasses all understanding! (Phil. 4:6-7)
As I share these words, it has been almost 2 years. I have a peace knowing I will see her again. Someone once told me, “She just got to heaven first”. I still miss her dearly every day, but I know she is healed and whole and dancing on the streets of gold in glory forever!
Ecclesiastes 3, Verse 9-12
9-What do workers gain from their toil?
10-I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race
11-He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
12-I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.
In closing, I would like to remind each of us to put Jesus in first place in your life. Seek Him with all you have and follow His will for your life. He has great and mighty things in store for His children.
Verse 14
14-I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
15-Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account.
If you do not know and follow Jesus, will you trust Him today? He wants you, just like you are and exactly where you are in life. He died for you. “All sin has already been paid” All we have to do is accept Him today!
As a believer, just be “HIS LOVE GOING SOMEWHERE TO HAPPEN”.
Love in Christ,
