Shirley Joy Baxley Rogers-Lamb
Shirley Joy Baxley Rogers-Lamb,
78, the widow of Levon Lamb, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family
on Friday, April 27, 2018 at McLeod Hospice House.
Mrs. Lamb was born the daughter
of Theodore Baxley Sr. and Mary Estelle Springs Baxley on January 7, 1940
in Hemingway. She was a graduate of Chris Logan School of Cosmetology
and was a licensed cosmetologist. She was a former employee of The
Lighthouse and Wellman Industries. She was the owner and operator
of Lamb’s Quick Stop. She was known for her warm smile, sense of
humor, and her generous heart. She was a devoted wife, loving mother,
cherished grandmother, caring sister, and a loyal friend.
She is survived by: three
children, Deborah R. Huggins (Marty) of Georgetown, Pamela R. Pope (Wayne)
and Michael D. Rogers (Sandra) both of Hemingway; a daughter-in-law, Vickie
J. Rogers of Florence; eight grandchildren, Chad, Brett, Kari, Lauren,
Christopher, Rachel, Joshua, and Michael; 16 great-grandchildren; and one
great great-grandchild. She is also survived by: three brothers,
Joe Springs, T.J. Baxley, and Jimmie Baxley all of Hemingway; a sister,
Billie Anne Berg of Florence; three sister-in-law’s, Lizzie E. Hyman of
Pamlico, Christine Knight and Anne Matthews both of Columbia; and many
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by:
her parents; her husband; a son, Leonard C. Rogers, Jr.; a sister, Mary
Etta Marsh; and a brother, James Edward Baxley.
A Celebration of Life Service
will be 6PM, Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Williams Hill Free Will Baptist
Church directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Officiating
will be Rev. Christopher Todd.
Visitation will be
from 6-8PM, Monday evening, April 30, 2018 in the sanctuary of Williams
Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
