Samuel Joseph “Joey” Kennedy,
62, beloved husband of Carolyn Jane Blankenship Kennedy, departed this
life on Friday, December 7, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Kennedy was born
the son of Joseph Commander Kennedy and Verdia Mae Taylor Kennedy on December
17, 1955 in Georgetown. He was a truck driver for Ike and Ike Logging
Company. He attended Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church where he
was active in the men’s fellowship. He was a lifetime member of the
NRA; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, and the martial arts.
Joey and Carolyn were
married March 9, 1973 and celebrate 45 years together. Their home was blessed
with: four children, Samuel Joseph Dillard Kennedy, Samuel Joseph “Little
Joey” Kennedy, Jay Louis Kennedy; and Amy Suzette (Jason) McCutcheon; thirteen
grandchildren, Garrett, Trent, Lexus, Autumn, Corey, Drake, Russell, Jade,
Dalton, Pressley, Silas, J.C., and Zen. He also leaves behind:
a brother, Mark Leonard Kennedy; and his extended family, Mike Williams,
Crystal Thomas, Roy Fletcher, Jamie Boone, and Robert “Bear” Allegree.
He was predeceased
by: his parents; a son, Samuel Joseph Dillard Kennedy; three brothers,
Jessie James Kennedy, Barry Kennedy, O’dell Commander Kennedy; and a sister,
Klata K. Bratcher.
A Celebration of Life
Service will be 1PM, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Saints Delight Pentecostal
Holiness Church. Officiating will be Rev. Chris Browder and Rev. Jack Todd.
Interment will follow in the Kennedy Family Cemetery directed by the Andrews
Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be
6-8PM, Monday evening, December 10, 2018 in the church sanctuary.
