Salina Cherry Birt, 44, beloved
wife of David Birt, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, November 20,
2017, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Birt was born
the daughter of Burness Cherry and Lila Cherry on February 22, 1973 in
Georgetown, SC. Salina along with her two sisters, Rozina and Dee, started
singing as children the songs of Zion. They share their faith in God through
the power of music and today are widely loved and known as the Southern
Gospel family group, “The Cherry Sisters.” She was a member of the Rhems
Pentecostal Holiness Church. Though she was an avid outdoorsman enjoying
to hunt, fish, gardening, and raising her chickens, she was truly a “Southern
Belle” who loved getting all adorn with her hair styled, make up aglow,
and styling a pretty outfit. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother and
grandmother, a cherished daughter and sister, and a special friend to many.
David and Salina were
married on November 15, 1991 and celebrated 26 years together. Their home
was blessed with: two children, Vanessa (Christopher) Ward and Joshua (Shyanne
Lindsey) Birt; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Drake, AnnGrace, and HazelGrace.
She also leaves behind: two sisters, Rozina (Stevie) Cribb and Delila “Dee”
She was predeceased
by: her father; and two brothers, Charles Edward Cherry and Samuel Bo Cherry.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 3PM, Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Rhems Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Officiating will be Rev. Randy Wilson and Rev. Willie Lowrimore. Interment
will follow in the Piney Forest Cemetery directed by the Georgetown Chapel
of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be
6-8PM, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie
Funeral Home, 2156 North Fraser Street, Georgetown
