Raymond Wilmont Wright, 77,
the widower of Nancy Jordan Wright, went home to be with the Lord, Friday,
November 15, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Wright was born the
son of David Allen Wright and Gracie McKenzie Wright on January 2, 1942
in Andrews. He was a life long native of Andrews building his homestead
on Dave McKenzie Road. He was an retired employee of
International Paper Company and was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
He was a charter member of the Six Mile Crossing Church of God for over
45 years faithfully serving as a clerk, council member, trustee, and Sunday
school teacher. His greatest enjoyment was being outdoors, hunting
and fishing. He was a former president of the Hell Hole Swamp Coon
Club; was a representative for the Hell Hole Swamp Coon Club at the Grand
American; and was inducted into the SC Coon Hunters Hall of Fame.
He was a devoted USC Gamecock and Atlanta Braves fan.
Wilmont and Nancy were married
on October 29, 1964 and celebrated 51 years together. Their home
was blessed with: three children, Margaret Ann (John D.) Evans, Ramona
W. (Rev. Obed P.) Ortiz, and Raymond Wilmont “Bubba” (Lisa) Wright, Jr.;
eight grandchildren, Michael Jacobs, April Evans Baker, Ashlyn Mattox,
Vivian Wright, Joanie Britt, Caroline Mattox, Justin Wright, and Jackson
Mattox; and five great-grand children, Kailee Jacobs, Austin Baker, John
John Baker, Alyssa Britt, and Johnnie Britt. He also leaves behind:
two sisters, Eleanor Wilson and Janice Dupree.
He was predeceased by:
his parents; his wife; a brother, Marion Wright; and two sisters, Lou Jean
Beasley and Earl Dean Wright.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 2 PM, Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Six Mile Crossing Church
of God, 2743 Kent Rd, Georgetown, SC. Interment will follow in the
Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral
Home.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM,
Monday, November 18, 2019, in the sanctuary of the Six Mile Crossing Church
of God.
