Raymond Luther “Luke” Goude
Raymond Luther “Luke” Goude,
64, the beloved son of Bethel Oliver Goude and Miriam Helena Joye Goude,
departed this life Tuesday, January 16, 2018 unexpectedly at his residence
in Myrtle Beach.
Mr. Goude was born May 13, 1953 in Hemingway. He was a 1971 graduate
of Pleasant Hill High School. He earned a Business Associate degree from
Columbia Commercial Business College. In 1988, he opened the St.
Clements Beach Bar & Grill in Myrtle Beach. He was also the owner
and operator of Proper Attire Hospitality Wear in Myrtle Beach for over
20 years. He was a devoted Clemson Tiger Fan. He was
a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. “Luke”, as he was affectionately
known by family and friends, had a natural radiance of continuous joy and
love. His loyalty and care reached beyond those who were apart of
his life and to those strangers who would cross his life’s path.
Luke’s life leaves a legacy fulfilling the great commandment, love your
neighbor as yourself. Above all, he loved God, his country, and his
He leaves behind: his parents; a brother, Reuben Goude (Wanda); two
sisters, Gwen Goude Hartgrove (Duane) and Brenda Goude Rich; and his nieces
and nephews, Jennifer (Hayward), Taylor, Cassidy, Courtney, Alexis (Zach),
Binkie, Anna, and Bentley. He will be dearly missed also by his extended
family: Aunt Annie, Aunt Ruthie, Aunt Lois (Uncle Hassie), Aunt Doots;
and many cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be
2PM, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at his home church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church,
5542 Carvers Bay Road, Hemingway, SC 29554. Interment directed by
the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home will follow in the church
The Goude family will receive
family and friends, 6-8PM, Friday evening, January 19, 2018 in the Mt.
Zion Baptist Church sanctuary.
