Andrews
Rev. Elwood Duncan, 84, the
husband of Elizabeth Ruth Weglehner Duncan, went home to be with the Lord
on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Vibra Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.
Rev. Duncan was born the
son of Henry Hope Duncan and Irene Elliott Duncan on September 19, 1930
in Andrews. He was a retired United States Army Veteran. He
was a licensed minister with the South Carolina Pentecostal Holiness Conference.
He was a faithful member of the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church
where he served as Choir Director, Missions Director, Adult Sunday School
Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, and Deacon. He was a devoted
husband, beloved father and grandfather, loving brother, and cherished
friend. He was a man of Godly character who leaves behind a Christian
legacy to all who knew him.
Elwood and Liz were married
on January 12, 1954 and celebrated 61 years together. Their home was blessed
with four children, Susan (Joe) Swails, Mike (Wanda) Duncan, Debbie
(Wendell) Alford, and Sandy (Clark) Creel; seven grandchildren and fourteen
great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind: two brothers, Rev.
Donald (Virginia) Duncan and Burnett (Bertha) Duncan; and two sisters,
Lorraine D. (Theron, Sr.) Floyd and Dorothy D. Merritt; and a large extended
family of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by: his
parents; a grandson, Jeremy Pierce; three brothers, Earl Duncan, Rev. Henry
(Mildred) Duncan, and DD Duncan.
A Home Going Celebration
with Military Recognition will be 2 PM, Friday, January 9, 2015, at the
Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church directed by the Andrews Chapel
of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be
6–8 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2015 in the sanctuary of Holy Trinity PH Church.
