Robert Caroll “RC” Morris,
78, beloved husband of Joan Thigpen Morris, went home to be with the Lord,
Sunday, September 15, 2019 at his residence.
Mr. Morris was born the
son of Hughie Oscar Morris and Annie Marie Browder Morris on August 10,
1941 in Williamsburg County. Over the years, he enjoyed dancing especially
shagging, as well as playing fast pitch softball. He was also a respected
and skilled pool player. He was a devoted husband, a loving father,
and the rock that anchored their hearts with strength. His greatest
enjoyment was talking to people. He had a special compassion for
children and animals and a willingness to help others.
RC and Joan were married
on April 13, 1963 and celebrated 56 years together. Their home was
blessed with two children, Robin Michelle Morris and Melanie Joan Morris.
He is survived by: his wife, Joan; his daughter, Robin; a brother,
J.B Morris; two sisters, Mary M. Hancock and Margie M. “Tootsie” Brown
(Steve); a sister-in-law, Gail Morris; numerous nieces and nephews; and
great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by:
his parents; his daughter, Melanie; five brothers, Oscar O’Neil Morris,
Thomas Whitfield Morris, Sr., Marvin Henry Morris, David Julian Morris,
Sr., and Joseph Walker Morris, Sr.; and two sisters, Rosie Marie Morris
and Joann Morris Mixon.
Graveside Services will
be 4PM, Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed
by McKenzie Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Donald Duncan.
The Morris Family will receive
family and friends prior to the service beginning at 3PM at the Andrews
Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home, 610 South Rosemary Ave., Andrews.
