Mrs. Todd was born the daughter of James Heyward Smith and Mary Frances Tinsley (John Wheeler, Jr.) Smith-Wheeler on May 8, 1940 in Lee County.  With the death of Mr. Smith, Mr. John became a loving caring father to Peggy.  Growing up and spending most of her life working on farms, she became a skilled gardener growing flowers and vegetables.  She was a gifted cook loving to can her fruits and vegetables. As an avid outdoorsman, she raised and sold worms, love fishing, enjoyed the beach, and was a keen bargain shopper.  She was a talented and passionate seamstress for sewing and crocheting.  Peggy had a servant’s heart and was the epitome of a Southern Christian Mother - never meeting a stranger, going out of her way to help others, and caring for her family above all.  She was a craft connoisseur filling her homes full of collectibles and even her last residence at McCoys Memorial Nursing Center was no different having her room full of her latest creations.  She was a longtime member of the Olive Grove Freewill Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church.

Jack Todd, Sr., Victor Todd, Albert “Al” Todd, Jr, Michael (Marie) Todd, Susan (Johnny) Todd, Timothy (Elaine) Todd and Sylvia Todd.
As a Grandmother, Peggy was blessed with 38 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, and 4 great great-grandchildren. She is survived by: a sister, Carolyn (Raymond) Smith and sister-in-law, Leila Smith.
She is pre-deceased by: her parents, both of her husbands, Al Todd, Sylvia Todd , Johnny Todd, a brother, Ralph Smith, and a sister Diane Jet and her husband, Bill.
