Peggy Ann Wooten Pope, 82, the widow of
Samuel Edward Pope, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 21,
2014 at the Agape Senior.
Mrs. Pope was born the daughter of Earl
Wooten and Hattie Mae Bourland Wooten on August 29, 1932 in Helena, Arkansas.
She was a graduate of Winyah High School. She was a retired Nurses
Aid with Georgetown Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Williams
Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to acts of selfless
giving, sacrificial devotion and service for her family and friends to
earn her the distinguished title – Beloved Mother.
Peggy and Samuel were married on November
3, 1951 and celebrated 45 years together. Their home was blessed
with: six children, Malcom (Annette Lee) Pope, Donald L. (Elaine)
Pope, Ronald Pope, Johnny (Sheron) Pope, Gerald A. (Susan) Pope, and Darrell
(Adriane) Pope; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She also leaves behind: two sisters, Evelyn (James) Mercer and Dorothy
She was predeceased by: her parents;
her husband; a grandson, Tony Pope; a granddaughter, Jessica Dawn Pope;
a daughter-in-law, Dorothy A. Pope; and three sisters, Juanita Watford,
Gladys Van Vlake, and Earlene Prince Williams.
A Home Going Celebration will be 11AM,
Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery
directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Wednesday
evening, October 22, 2014 at the Hemingway Chapel.
