Nellie Ann Avant


 
 

Nellie Ann Avant, 69, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday evening, April 10, 2019 at her residence. 
 Ms. Avant was born the daughter of Rev. James Zopher Avant and Eliza Queen Lear Prosser Avant on July 22, 1949 in Johnsonville.  She was a retired employee with the SCDOT and was a music teacher.  She was a member of the Community Freewill Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church.
 She is survived by:  a sister, Julia A. (Devon) Norton; three brothers, Thomas Avant, George Allen (Lena) Avant and Chris (Peggy) Avant; a aunt, Rev. Katie Avant; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
 She was predeceased by:  her parents; three sisters, Leila Pate, Emmie White, and Montez A. Self; and two brothers, Gene Avant and Luther Avant. 
 A Home Going Celebration will be Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Community Freewill Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church.  Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
 Visitation will be 6-8PM, Monday evening, April 15, 2019 in the sanctuary of Community Freewill Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church.
