Mildred Robinson Gunter, 72, the beloved wife of Roland Gunter, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 2, 2014 at MUSC, Charleston.
Mrs. Gunter was born the daughter of Charles Brown Robinson and Rena Mae Crutchfield Robinson on November 14, 1941 in Conway, SC.  She was a 1959 graduate of Winyah High School; a 1972 graduate of Columbia College; and received her Masters of Education in 1979 from the University of South Carolina.  She was a charter member of the Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church where she served on numerous boards and committees including: Chancel Choir; Sunday School teacher; United Methodist Women, and United Methodist Youth.  She was the founder of the preschool programs at Herbert Memorial UMC and numerous other preschool programs including Winyah Academy and Georgetown First Baptist Church.  Her career included teaching at several private and public schools until her retirement from Coastal Carolina University.  She was a participant and instructor for the Emmaeus walk.  Her greatest accomplishment was the love and Godly heritage she gave to her family and friends.  For it is written, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised” (Proverbs 31:31).
Mildred and Roland were married on January 10, 1961 and celebrated 53 years together.  Their home was blessed with: two children, Tracie G. (Michael) Bowe and Mitchell Gunter; and two grandsons, Alex and Christopher.  She also leaves behind:  a brother, Chase (Valda) Robinson.
A Service of Celebration and Resurrection will be 2PM, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church.  Entombment will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5-8PM, Tuesday evening, November 4, 2014, in the sanctuary of Herbert Memorial UMC.
Memorials may be to the Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church.
