Mary “Elise” Cusack-Johnson Owens
Mary “Elise” Cusack Johnson-Owens, 90,
the widow of George E. Johnson, Sr., and Herman T. Owens, went home to
be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her daughter’s residence.
Elise was born the daughter of Henry Cusack
and Ada Thomas Cusack on December 2, 1923 in Georgetown County. She
was a graduate of Andrews High School and was a retired employee with Georgetown
Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Owens Chapel Pentecostal
Holiness Church. She committed her life to acts of selfless giving,
fervent prayer, and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished
titles – Beloved Mother and Grandmother.
She leaves behind: a daughter, Carolyn
Johnson (Grippie Sr.) Lawson; and ten grandchildren,
Ricky (Lynn) Johnson, Bobby (Ledilla) Johnson, Darlene McDaniel, Pam (John)
Marden, Eddie (Deborah) Johnson, Tina Johnson Graham, Jay Johnson, Grippie
(Karen) Lawson, Jr., Elise (Curt) Wisner, and Billy (Dana) Lawson; 27 great-grandchildren;
and 20 great great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind: a daughter-in-law,
Betty Johnson; a brother, David (Bobbie) Cusack; and three sisters, Inez
Miller, Mary (Ben) Lambert, and Virginia (Ken) Flowers Lockliar.
She was predeceased by: her parents;
her husbands; two children, George E. Johnson Jr., and Robert E. Johnson;
a great great-grandchild, Mitchell Johnson; three brothers, Johnny Cusack,
Hood Cusack, and James “Tootsie” Cusack; and a sister, Ruth Woodridge.
Graveside Service will be 4PM, Friday,
September 26, 2014 at the Sampit United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service
from 2:00-3:30PM, Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Georgetown Chapel.
