Mary Ethel Brown Joye-Lowe, 91, the
beloved mother of Henry J. (Lois) Joye, Jr. and Larry Gene (Barbara) Joye,
went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Georgetown
Mrs. Lowe was born the daughter of
Jake Brown and Rose Rouse Brown on August 9, 1922 in Marion County.
She was a retired employee with the Georgetown County School District.
She was a charter member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Georgetown
where she served and ministered in numerous positions including: Sunday
School Teacher, Women’s Auxiliary, and the Church Board. She
committed her life to acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer, and an unconditional
love to earn her the distinguished titles – Beloved Mother.
She leaves behind: her
two sons; three grandchildren, Timothy R. Joye, Traci (Ed) Watson, Jay
(Erin) Joye; and four great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Parker, Elijah Brooks,
and Ellison. She also leaves behind: six brothers, Paul
T. Brown, Willie (Ellen) Brown, Donnie (Margaret) Brown, Jake (Anne) Brown,
Lewis (Jane) Brown, and Terry (Debbie) Brown; two sister-in-laws, Jacqueline
Brown and Maybelle Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by: her parents,
her husbands, Henry J. Joye, Sr., Dillion C. Lowe, and Daniel W. Mills;
and three brothers, Leon Brown, Jake F. Brown, and Robert L. Brown.
A Going Home Celebration will be graveside
at 3 PM, Sunday, February 23, 2014 in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed
by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8PM, Saturday
evening, February 22, 2014 at the Georgetown Chapel.
