Hemingway

Lois Vereen Hughes, 53, a beloved mother and the wife of Ricky Hughes, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Hughes was born the daughter of William Thomas Vereen and Betty Sue Vereen-Warrren on January 27, 1961 in Flint, Michigan.  She was of the Holiness Faith.  Though words could never fully describe all her life, she committed her life to acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer, and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished title– Beloved Mother.    
She leaves behind:  her husband; three children, Crystal Ann Hughes, Christie Ann “Tiny” Hughes, and Christopher Thomas “Buckwheat” Hughes; and a grandson, Warren Whetsel.  She also leaves behind:  four brothers, Paul (Flora Jean) Vereen, Ricky Vereen, Will Vereen, and Timmy Vereen; three sisters, Debbie Vereen, Cheryl (Mark) Powell, and Tammy Vereen;  her in-laws, Franklin (Maude) Hughes; fifteen nieces and nephews; and 23 great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by: her parents; her nephew, Timothy Vereen; and her brother-in-law, Franklin Lee Hughes.
A Going Home Celebration will be 11AM, Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Outland Church of God.  Officiating will be the Rev. Scott Stone.  Interment will follow in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8PM, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in the sanctuary of Outland Church of God.
