Linda Dale Blankenship Shannon
Linda Dale Blankenship Shannon, 60, the
widow of Buddy Chester Shannon, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday,
August 18, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Shannon was born the daughter of
Frank Edward Blankenship, Sr. and Martha Della Lou Barrineau Blankenship
on December 18, 1955 in Georgetown. She attended Pamplico High School
where she was the leader of the Chorus. In 1990, she received her
GED from Horry Georgetown Technical College and continued her education
by receiving her degree as a registered nurse in 1991. Mrs. Shannon was
a retired employee with Georgetown Memorial Hospital System. She
was a member of Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church and United Christian Outreach.
While attending Rock PH Church, she served as Women’s Ministry President
for 5 years and was a leader in the Girls Auxiliary. As leader in
the Girls Auxiliary, she helped raised money by picking up cans to furnish
the church with new pews. She was a devoted wife, loving mother,
cherished grandmother, caring sister and a faithful friend.
Buddy and Dale were married on October
5, 1973 and celebrated 42 years together. Their home was blessed
with: two children, Elizabeth “Beth” Dale S. (John) Long and Buddy
Chester (Cathy) Shannon, Jr.; and eight grandchildren, John William “JW”
Long III, Brittany Martha Elizabeth Long, Buddy Chester Shannon III, Jordyn
Brailey Long, Chelsey Brooklynn-McKenzie Shannon, Lovie Bridgette Samantha-Gracyn
Long, Chandler Durant Shannon, and Journey Lindsey-Dale Long. She
also leaves behind: four brothers, Frank E. (Phylis) Blankenship
Jr., Steve A. Blankenship Sr., Ronald G. (Donna) Blankenship and Glenn
A. (Chrissy) Blankenship; five sisters, Elizabeth Ann (Johnny) Avant, Linda
B. (Richard) Smith, Jane (Joey) Kennedy, Geraldine (Jessie) Griffin, and
Pat (Gene) Herrington; and a numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by: her parents;
her husband; and a brother, Louis Blankenship.
A Home Going Celebration will be 3PM,
Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the United Christian Outreach, 1414 Gilbert
Street, Georgetown SC. Committal Service will follow at 5PM
in the Elmwood Cemetery directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral
The Shannon family will receive family
and friends immediately after the service in the church sanctuary.
