Lawanda B. Hanna, 93, the
widow of Alex “Alec” J. Hanna, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday,
June 22, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Hanna was born the
daughter of Lorenzo “Lolie” Benjamin Bryan and Lena Sports Bryan in Andrews.
She was a 1939 graduate of Williamsburg High School and was a member of
Piney Forest Baptist Church. She was a retired machine operator,
and after retirement, she fulfilled her passion taking care of children.
She enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was a devoted wife, loving
mother, cherished “memaw”, and loyal friend.
She leaves behind:
a daughter, Marsha H. (Woody) Bone; a grandson, Brandon (Kelly) Hitchcock;
and a great-granddaughter, Alison Nicole Hitchcock. She also leaves
behind: a brother, Reed Bryan; a sister, Edaphell B. Sims, extended family,
Lynne Morrison; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by:
her parents; two brothers, Lindwood Sports and Russell Bryan; and four
sisters, Lillian B. Hedmond, Leona B. Turbeville, Willa Mae B. Gordan,
and Lee Ella B. Neal.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 3PM, Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Piney Forest Baptist Church. Internment
will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel
of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5-8PM,
Saturday, June 24, 2017 in Piney Forest BC Family Life Center.
