Hemingway
Linda Alma Litchfield Joye, 70, the
widow of Harold McLaurin Joye, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday,
February 12, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Joye was born the daughter of
Ebynezer Louis Litchfield and Minnie Leona Cribb L. Mitchell on October
3, 1943 in Moncks Corner. She committed her life to acts of selfless giving
and prayer for her family; and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished
title – Beloved Mom.
Alma and Harold were married
on March 17, 1959 and celebrated 51 years together. Their home was
blessed with four children: Linda Darleen Stone, Amelia Prosser Joye,
Kathleen Melissa (Steven) Crolley and Kerry M. Laster; five grandchildren,
Melissa Kay Sanderson, Derral Wayne Laster, Kevin Shane Joye, Tonya Michelle
(Travis) McKenzie, Charles L. Stone; ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great
grandchild. She also leaves behind a sister, Mary Wyndam; and a son-in-law,
James L. Stone.
She was predeceased by: her parents;
her husband; a daughter, Linda; a grandson, Steven M. Crolley; three brothers,
Roy Litchfield, David Litchfield, and Jimmy Litchfield; and a sister, Annette
Kowlok.
A Going Home Celebration will be 6PM,
Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Twin City Baptist Church directed by the
Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Joye family will receive family
and friends immediately following the service in the Church Sanctuary.
