Joseph Walker Morris

Joseph Walker Morris, 78, beloved husband of Gail Ackerman Morris, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Tidelands Community Hospice. 
Mr. Walker was born the son of Hughie Oscar Morris and Annie Browder Morris on June 25, 1937 in Andrews.  He was a retired employee of Georgetown Steel Mill.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he served as a member of the Lew Mills Sunday School Class and Trinity Chancel Choir.  Walker enjoyed life and visiting with others.  He enjoyed his weekly suppers with great friends at the two “Barns”, daily visits to the Blakely Farm, riding his golf cart either alone or with his girls and stopping to visit all along his way.  His greatest pride and joy was his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart and soul.  He was a man of solid character and firm morals.  His legacy shall remain true as a devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, cherished brother, and a loyal friend.
Walker and Gail were married on September 20, 1959 and celebrated 56 years together.  Their home was blessed with:  two children, Joseph “Joey” (Daphne) Walker Morris, Jr. and Ryan Derrick (Michelle) Morris; four grandchildren, Malorey Morris, Raylee Morris, Molly Morris, and Patrick Wall; and two great-grandchildren, Kelsey Taylor and Christopher Lambert.  He also leaves behind:  two brothers, J.B Morris and R.C. (Joan) Morris; two sisters, Mary Hancock and Margie “Tootsie” (Steve) Brown; his adopted family, Geraldine Blakely, Tony Blakely, Kevin Blakely, and Jeannine Blakely; his very special friends, Ansel (Sharon) Coker, Luther (Brenda) Langley, Sambo (Karin) Harper, and Tommy (Wanda) Cox; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by:  his parents; his daughter-in-law, Daphne; four brothers, Oscar Morris, Thomas Morris, Marvin Morris, and David Morris; two sisters, Rosie Morris and Joann Mixon; and his best friend for life and loved like a brother, Virgil Blakely.
Funeral Service will be will be 2PM, Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Trinity United Methodist Church.  Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
 Visitation will be 6-8PM, Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Andrews Chapel.
 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:  Trinity United Methodist Church, 205 South Rosemary Ave., Andrews, SC 29510 OR Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 North Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC  29440.
