James Vernon Swails, Sr., 76, beloved husband of Mary Frances Gray Swails, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 16, 2020 at his residence. 
Mr. Swails was born the son of Marion Vernon Swails and Azilee Self Swails on January 25, 1944 in Georgetown.  He was a retired construction worker.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and horses.  His greatest love and enjoyment was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  He was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
He is survived by:  his wife, Mary; his children, James Vernon Swails, Jr. (Hope), Marian Ann Swails Smedley (Chris), and Jonathan Eugene Swails; eight grandchildren, David Goude, Sandy Johnson (Randy), O’Brian Swails (Avia), Cynthia Ann Garvin, Dustin Swails, Cayce Swails, Krista Swails, and Cliff Cox; and eleven great-grandchildren, Faith, Elizabeth, Hailey, O’Brian, Remington, Matthew, Little P., Bentley, Tyson, Kayleigh, and Evan.  He is also survived by:  a brother, Pinkney Swails (Debbie).  
He was predeceased by:  his parents; and a granddaughter, Arynn.
Funeral Services will be 4PM, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church.  Officiating will be Rev. Mary Green.  Interment directed by McKenzie Funeral Home will follow in the Church cemetery.  
The Swails family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 3-4PM in the church sanctuary. 
Due to Covid-19, the family asks that everyone please practice social distancing and facemasks are required.
