Dorothy Vivian Cooper Jones,
89, the widow of Curtis Jones, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday,
February 13, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Jones was born the
daughter of Rev. William Benny Cooper and Mattie Lucille Lambert Cooper
on October 22, 1926 in Georgetown. She was a member of the Saints
Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a devoted wife,
loving mother, cherished grandmother, caring sister, and a loyal friend.
At a young age, Mrs. Jones dedicated her life to a higher calling of following
Christ. The legacy she leaves behind is stated in Proverbs 31:30,
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD,
she shall be praised.
Curtis and Dorothy
were married on September 4, 1943 and celebrated 54 years together.
Their home was blessed with: six children, Curtis Roland (Elizabeth
Dianne) Jones, Burness Edward (Annie) Jones, Bryce Benjamin (Alfreda) Jones,
Clyde Kenley (Wilma) Jones, Dorothy G. (Vernon) Dandrige, and Myrtis (Tom)
Agema; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and four great
great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind: a brother, Daniel
(RosaLea) Cooper; two sisters, Betty Jo (Carl) Hanser and Irene Moore;
and three sister-in-laws, Levena Cooper, Pearl Cooper, and Betty Cooper.
She was predeceased
by: her parents; her husband; three brothers, Rev. Brachel Cooper,
Bennie Linburg “BL” Cooper, Curtis Cooper, and Sidney Cooper; and two sisters,
Earnestine Dease and Lena Mae Cooper.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 10AM, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Saints Delight Pentecostal
Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery
directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8PM,
Monday, February 15, 2016, in the sanctuary of Saints Delight PH Church.
