Jefferson Theron Floyd, Sr.,
85, the beloved husband of Lorraine Duncan Floyd, went home to be with
the Lord, Monday, December 7, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Floyd was born
the son of Windham “WD” Duffy Floyd and Myrtis Hyman Floyd-Dunn on February
27, 1930 in Williamsburg County. He was a Building Contractor and
the owner of The Jefferson Company. He was a master carpenter and
was licensed as a SC Residential Home Builder for over 50 years. He was
a member of Holy Trinity PH Church; an honorary member of the Trinity United
Methodist Church; and attended the Andrews First PH Church where he labored
and served in many capacities including: Deacon, Sunday School Teacher,
Elder, Missions, and Building Committee. He enjoyed fishing, writing, painting,
history, traveling, old classic cars, gardening, and was a private pilot.
His greatest love and passion was for his family, especially adoring his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, loving
father, cherished grandfather, and a loyal friend.
Theron and Lorraine
were married on December 23, 1950 and celebrated 65 years together.
Their home was blessed with: four children, J. Theron (Marilyn) Floyd,
Jr., Myra Fiori, Philip A. (Rhonda) Floyd, Jennifer F. (Lenoir) Sturkie;
nine grandchildren, Jeff (Johnnie) Floyd III, Susan Floyd, Jessica (Steven)
Elliott, Jaime Floyd, Joshua Floyd, Jana Floyd, Jason Sturkie, Lauren (Phillip)
Kennedy, and Nicholas Sturkie; and seven great-grandchildren, Caleb Floyd,
J. Theron Floyd IV, Declan Kennedy, Jase Floyd, Connor Kennedy, Owen Elliott,
JunileeFloyd. He also leaves behind: a brother, David (Junalee) Floyd;
and a sister, Rita (Rev. Stoney) Wrenn.
He was predeceased
by his parents.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 2PM, Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Andrews First PH Church,
112 North Magnolia Ave., Andrews, SC. Interment will follow in the Andrews
Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6-8PM,
Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the home Mr. Floyd built and reared his
family and is now the home of McKenzie Funeral Home, 610 S. Rosemary Ave.,
Andrews, SC 29510.
