Hemingway

     Jimmy Earl Pope, 68, a cherished father and the beloved husband of Nina Howard Pope, went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with lung disease on Friday morning, January 18, 2013, at the Tidelands Hospice House.

      Mr. Pope was born the son of Woodrow R. Pope and Mary Allen Miller Pope on January 12, 1945 in Georgetown.  He was retired from the construction industry and was a member of the Williams Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church.  He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.  He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.

     Jimmy and Nina were married on November 14, 1964, and celebrated 48 years together. Their home was blessed with three sons, James A. “Tony” Pope, Ricky (Heather) Pope, and Kenny (Michelle) Pope; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  He was also survived by one brother, David F. Pope; and one sister, Sarah Alberta P. Creel.  
     
     He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Tony; one brother, Lonnie O. Pope; and two sisters, Beatrice P. Wilder, and Dula Mae P. Stott.

     Graveside services will be 3 PM, Monday, January 21, 2013, at the Williams Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

     Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Sunday evening, January 20, 2013, in the church sanctuary.

     Memorials may be made to the American Lung Society and the William Hill FBC Building fund. McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Pope family.
