Juliette McConnell James, 73, the wife of Harold H. James, Sr., finished her courageous battle with cancer and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at MUSC.
Mrs. James was born the daughter of Harvey Harrison “Harry” McConnell and  Myrtle J. Alford McConnell on June 12, 1940 in Georgetown.  She was a 1958 graduate of Winyah Hill School and was a retired Rural Letter Carrier with the US Postal Service.  She was a faithful member of the Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church where she served in the United Methodist Women, the Church Altar Guild, Sunday School Superintendent, and the L&M Bunn Sunday School Class.  She was a charter member of the Ocean Waves Square Dance Club; an avid supporter, volunteer, and participant of the American Cancer Society; and a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgetown High School sports teams.   She was the epitome of a Southern Lady in the home and in the community. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Though words could never fully describe her joyous and contagious smiles or the limitless hugs to family and friends, her acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer, and an unconditional love leaves a legacy of a Beloved Mother and Christian Woman.
Juliette and Harold were married September 18, 1959 and celebrated 54 years together.  From their home was blessed with:  two children, Hal (Donna) James and Daphne J. Carr; four grandchildren, Brittany, Tres, Bevan, and James.  She also leaves behind:  two brothers, Johnny (Ramona) McConnell and Timmy (Jennifer) McConnell; four sisters, Harriette (Frankie) Davis, Ellen (Rodney) Ward, Vickie (Dale) Baker, and Ginger (Thomas, Jr.) Hamblin; a sister-in-law, Jacqueline McConnell; and a special friend, Greg Eaddy.
She was predeceased by her parents; her parent-in-laws, Malcom and Lillian James; and her brother, Laverne McConnell.
