Janet Louise Hodge Coker,
56, beloved wife of Samuel “Sammy” Ray Coker, after a courageous battle
with cancer joyously entered her eternal home with her Lord and waiting
loved ones on Tuesday morning, December 26, 2017 at MUSC.
Mrs. Coker was born the
daughter of Thelma Louise Powell Hodge and James Arthur Hodge on May 20,
1961 in Charleston. She was educated in Hollywood, SC, but in 1977
traded in school to marry her sweetheart “Sammy”. Sammy and Janet
were married on February 18, 1977 and celebrated 40 years together.
She was a member of the Sounds of Victory Holiness Church where she served
as a Primary Sunday School Class teacher; was active in the Women’s Auxiliary;
and was a choir member, soloist, and guitarist.
She leaves behind:
a sister, Sandra Ellen (George) Brinson; two nephews, David Hodge and Courtney
Hodge; a niece, Annie Brinson; and her extended family, especially, Mom
& Pops McKenzie (Rev. Berry and Joyce McKenzie) which she loved as
and was cared for like they were her parents.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 6PM, Thursday evening, December 28, 2017 at the Sounds of Victory
Holiness Church, 3830 North Railroad Ave, Coward, SC. Officiating
will be Rev. Berry McKenzie.
The Coker family will receive
family and friends immediately after the service in the Church sanctuary.
Committal Service will be
11AM, Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Old Field Cemetery, Hwy 261, Hemingway,
SC.
