James Andrew “Andy” Benford,
Jr., 62, beloved husband of Karen Denise Watford Benford, went home to
be with his Lord and waiting loved ones on Monday, September 10, 2018 at
Mr. Benford was born the
son of James Andrew Benford, Sr. and Mary Catherine Butler Benford on April
19, 1956 in Georgetown. He was an employee with Pierce Machinery.
He was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship Church and always carried
a special love for his home church Pine Crest Baptist Church where his
family was charter members and he was the first child to be baptized in
the new sanctuary. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Westerns
and Fox News, and dancing the shag. His greatest love and enjoyment
was his family and friends which earned him the beloved title “Pops”.
Andy and Karen were married
on July 26, 1980 and celebrated 38 years together. Their home
was blessed with: three children, James Andrew “Dru” (Tiffany) Benford,
Kirby Nicole B. (James) Taylor, and Walter Casey (Brittany) Benford; five
grandchildren, Camdyn, Callen, Clay, Cayson, and Cooper. He also
leaves behind: a brother, Scott (Della) Benford; three sisters, Debbie
Freeman, Karen (Gerry) McConnell and Burnice B. (Dave) Marion; his father-in-law,
Mr. & Mrs. Robert C. “Bob” Watford, Sr.; his extended family, Jeanie
Cullop (Tom) Watkins, Jay Cullop, the Watford family - Rocky and Cynthia,
Watford, Mack E and Amy, Lisa and Andy, Cheryl, and Beth - and a number
of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by:
his parents; his mother-in-law, Susan Elizabeth “Libby” Watford; and a
brother-in-law, Phil Freeman.
A Celebration of Life will be 5 PM, Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Andrews
Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating will be Rev. Jack Mobley, Rev.
Brad Dunn, Gus Lambert and Brent Watford.
The Benford family
will receive family and friends immediately after the service at a
Reception in Honor of Andy in the church family life center.
A Committal Ceremony
will be 11 AM, Tuesday morning, September 18, 2018, in the Ivey Cemetery
directed by the Andrews Chapel.
