Mrs. Cox was born the daughter of Quincy D. Prosser and Hattie Benton Prosser on September 25, 1930 in Florence County. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, working in the yard, reading and coloring. She was a member of Earle United Methodist Church. She was a mighty prayer warrior and she grew upon the Christian legacy of a Church Builder that was handed down to her by her father. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, a caring sister and a loyal friend.
Helen and Alton were married on August 14, 1948 and celebrated 65 years together. Their home was blessed with: four children, Alton “Al” Cox, III (Nancy) of Georgetown, Anthony “Tony” Cox, Kathy D. Cox, and Kelly C. Fenters (Bill) of Moncks Corner; three grandchildren, Matthew “Matt” A. Cox, IV, Ryan Fenters(Brooke), and Kyleigh C. Shirley(Bubba); and seven great-grandchildren, Bailey Cox, Jacob Cox, RyLee Fenters, Bryant Fenters, Caroline Fenters, Barnes Shirley, and Lizzie Rene Shirley. She also leaves behind a sister, Ruby P. Richardson.
She was predeceased by: her parents; her husband; a son, Tony; a daughter, Kathy; three brothers, W.D. Prosser, Charles Prosser, and Edward Prosser; and a sister, Barbara P. Wheeler.
A Home Going Celebration will be 2PM, Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Earle United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Harmony Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Cox family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:30PM in the church sanctuary.
