Heyward Courtney Kennedy
Heyward Courtney Kennedy,
81, beloved husband of Eunice Anna Young Kennedy, went home to be with
the Lord, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Kennedy was born the
son of Courtney Heyward Kennedy and Emma McCallister Kennedy on March 3,
1935 in Florence County. He was a retired employee with Georgetown
Steel Mill. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and was a member of the
Blue Grass Junction Band who traveled and performed throughout South Carolina.
He was a member of Mount Taber Baptist Church.
Heyward and Eunice were
married on July 5, 1954 and celebrated 62 years together.
He leaves behind: his wife;
a sister, Eddie Jean Norton; and 33 nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by:
his parents; three brothers, Edward JW Kennedy, Willie “Billie” Joseph
Kennedy and Jimmie Coker; and three sisters, Louise Caulder, Nita Young
and Emma Esther Lee Gourdner
A Home Going Celebration
will be 3PM, Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Mount Taber Baptist Church.
Internment will follow in the Kennedy Family Cemetery directed by the Georgetown
Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be
5-8PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 in the sanctuary of Mount Tabor Baptist
Church.
