Harriett Ann Coker Cox, 82,
beloved wife of Wayne James Cox, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday,
January 12, 2020 at McLeod Hospice House.
Mrs. Cox was born the daughter
of Whildon Leory Coker, Sr. and Allie Lee Moore Coker on July 27, 1939
in Andrews. She was a retired 45 plus year employee with Oneita Knitting
Mills and a former employee of Dunn’s Variety Store. She was
a member of Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she a choir
member and served on the Fundraising Committee for the Family Life Center.
She enjoyed cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family.
On April 5, 1959, Harriett married the love of her life, Wayne, and they
shared 60 wonderful years together.
She is survived by:
her husband; three brothers, Ansel Coker(Sharon), Harry Coker(Linda), and
Larry Coker(Belinda); two sisters, Vivian C. Tyler and Beverly C. Poe;
a sister-in-law, Harriett Coker; two God sons, Keith Poe(Venus) and Kelley
Poe; a special niece and caregiver, Cheryl F. Rogers(Ray) and their children,
Allie and Rhett; and many loved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by:
her parents; four brothers, Wilden Leroy “WL” Coker, James Coker, Jack
Coker, and Dan Coker; and three sisters, Geraldine Garnet C. Flowers-Harrelson,
Margaret C. Wiggins, and Annie Lee Coker.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 2PM, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Andrews First Pentecostal
Holiness Church directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Officiating will be Rev. Dean Baber and Rev. Paul Miles.
The Cox family will receive
family and friends immediately after the service in the church sanctuary.
The Cox family would like
to extend a special “Thank You” to LouWanda Staggers, Ollie Bennett, and
Sandy McCullough for their care, support, and loved during this journey.
