Gordon Kenneth “Buddy” Morris,
Sr., 85, beloved husband of Betty Joan Cooper Morris, went home to be with
the Lord, Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial
Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Morris was born the
son of Rufus Benjamin Morris, Sr. and Gladys Raye Lawson Morris on October
5, 1934 in Andrews. He was a retired 44 year employee of Oneita Knitting
Mills and was a farmer. He was a member of Piney Forest Baptist Church
and part of the church family of the Family Worship Center. His greatest
enjoyment was to “fish the pond”. Mr. Morris was born the fifth of
eight siblings, Sarah Cannon, R.B Morris, Jr., Maggie Barrineau, Tiny Murray,
Ann Mobley, Billy Morris, and Gail White.
Buddy and Joan were married
on December 24, 1953 and celebrated 66 years together. Their home
was blessed with: two children, Gordon K. “Kenny” Morris, Jr. and Sherry
Godwin(Donnie); five grandchildren, Jennifer Casselman(Doug), Jessica Morris,
Ken Morris, III, Joni Alford(Kelly), and Jeremy Godwin; and four great
grandchildren, Hunter, Hailey, Mady, and Macy. He also leaves behind
two sisters, Tiny Murray and Gail White; and a sister-in-law, Jean C. Powell(Rev.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 2PM, Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Piney Forest Baptist Church.
Internment will follow in the Piney Forest Cemetery directed by McKenzie
The Morris family will receive
family and friends from 5-8PM, Saturday, December 28, 2019 in the Family
Life Center of Piney Forest Baptist Church.
