Glennie Lee Long, 83, the
widower of Mary Ann Powell Long, departed this life, Tuesday, March 17,
2020 at MUSC.
Mr. Long was born the son
of Henry Inman Long and Patty Irene Long on March 31, 1936 in Williamsburg
County. He was a former employee of Hemingway Motor Company and was
self-employed as a mechanic and welder. He enjoyed fishing, Nascar
racing, and go-cart racing at the Black River Speedway.
He leaves behind:
four children, Lorie L. Taylor (Jerry Coker), Jacqueline “Jackie” Long,
Tony G. Long, and Patty Sue Long (Kenneth “Kenny” Cooper); seven grandchildren;
and fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Gisbon, Alice Faye
Davis, and Becky Abrams (Steve); three brothers, Wayne Long (Sandra), Ken
Long (June), and Jerry Long.
He was predeceased
by: his parents; his wife; his siblings, Beatrice Cribb, John Henry Long,
Gertrude “Thelma” Blakley, Lafayette Long, Richard “Pee Wee” Long, Jackie
Oneal Long, Raymond “Bo” Long, and Tommy Long.
A Graveside Service will
be 2PM, Friday, March 20, 2020 at Ivey Cemetery directed by the Andrews
Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Becky Tilton.
The Long family will
receive family and friends prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:30PM at
the Andrews Chapel.
