Geraldine Joyce Moulds Ward, 78, the beloved wife of Phillip Julian Ward, Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 3, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Ward was born the daughter of Luther Joseph Moulds, Sr. and Eliza Joy Moulds on August 14, 1935 in Hemingway. She was a graduate of Williamsburg High School and attended Winthrop College. She built a thirty-year career in civil service and served as budget officer for Naval Electronic Systems Engineering Center (NAVELEX) in Charleston. She was well-known for her green thumb, and after her retirement, she loved spending time gardening. She was a devoted genealogist who loved history, “chasing dead people,” and cemetery hopping. She loved cooking and baking, and her family looked forward to all of her specialties, especially at the holidays.
Joyce and Julian was married on May 2, 1956 and celebrated 57 years together. Their home was blessed with four children: Janice Ward, Susan Ward, Phillip Julian Ward, Jr. and Greg St. Clair. She also leaves behind: four sisters, Norma Southerland (Thomas), Rona Jarrell (Fred), Jeanette Middour (Karl), and Eunice Longsine; a brother, Luther “Buddy” Moulds Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; and five sisters, Eleanor Wolf, Mary Schwarz, Matteline Halley, Helen Bowdoin, and Ruth Gunnells.
A Graveside Service will be 1 PM, Friday, February 7, 2014, at the Gourdines Chapel Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6–8 PM, Thursday
evening, February 6, 2014 at the Andrews Chapel.
