Earl Lee Wheeler, 82, a beloved father and the widower of Barbara Prosser Wheeler, went home to be with the Lord, Friday morning, February 8, 2013 at his residence.
Mr. Wheeler was born the son of John Redford Wheeler and Ethel Fulton Wheeler on November 19, 1930 in Andrews. He was a retired employee of International Paper and a member of the Earle United Methodist Church. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He was a farmer, the co-founder of Wheeler Farms, and an avid outdoorsman.
Earl and Barbara were married on May 26, 1951, and celebrated 58 years together. Their home was blessed with: four children, Jeffrey L. (Becky) Wheeler, David A. (Katrina) Wheeler, Becky W. (Deryl) McCants, and Tanya W. (Craig) Casselman; eight grandchildren, Cody Wheeler, Kerri Wheeler, Morgan Wheeler, John McCants, Brandon McCants, Olivia Grace Casselman, Carter Casselman, and Jon Quincy Wheeler. He also leaves behind: three brothers, Edwin (Eleanor) Wheeler, J.R. (Margaret) Wheeler, and Harry (Edna) Wheeler; a sister, Faye Bryant; and a sister-in-law, Jonnie Mae Wheeler.
He was predeceased by: his parents; his wife; and a son, Milton Dean Wheeler.
A Going Home Celebration with Military Honors will be 3:30 PM, Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Earle United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Harmony cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Wheeler family will receive family and friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Earle United Methodist Church.
The Wheeler family extends a special thanks to Carter Owens Walker, the staff of Amedysis Hospice, Joyce Dollard, and Lean Nesmith for the care and attention shown to their family during this time.
