Mr. Crews was born the son of Leroy Edward Crews and Alma Virginia Meads Crews on December 8, 1946 in Andrews. Edward attended Andrews High School and then joined the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War. After six months, he received an Honorable Discharge to return home in order to help his mother take care of and provide for his siblings. He started his work experience immediately at the Sampit Lumber Company. His siblings attribute their successful life to the strength and determination taught to them from their cherished brother’s love and devotion. He was a 43 year retired employee of International Paper Company, Georgetown Mill, and a member of their Quarter Century Club. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Edward and Jane were married on May 16, 1971 and celebrated 47 years together. Their home was blessed with two sons, Shon Lee Crews and John Matthew Crews. He also leaves behind: a brother, Calvin (Cheryl) Crews; and four sisters, Josie Cox, Evelyn (Billy) Casselman, Ann (Bruce) Steele, and Cathy (Ricky) Goude.
He was predeceased by: his parents; and two brothers, Roy Crews and David Crews.
A Home Going Celebration will be 4PM, Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Suttons United Methodist Church. Burial directed by McKenzie Funeral Home will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The Crews family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:30PM in the church sanctuary.
