Etta Ernestine Connelly Glisson,
85, beloved mother and the widow of Lewis Elton “Boot” Glisson, went home
to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Glisson was born the
fifth sibling of six children born to Louis Vincent Connelly and Etta Swails
Connelly on August 29, 1932 in Andrews. She began her spiritual journey
as a child in the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church which was co-founded
by her mother. On those sacred grounds she grew in favor with both
God and man for the next 85 years. There “Ms Ernestine” faithfully
served over the years in many capacities including: Sunday School Teacher;
member of the Church Board; Secretary and Treasurer for over 50 plus years;
choir member and music leader; and as a member and board member of the
Women’s Ministry. She was a support and encouragement to all Pastor
families of Holy Trinity. Her home had an open door to all giving
love, guidance, hospitality, and a helping hand. Her motherly and
Godly handprint is on many lives and hearts. She lived her
life by faith in the word of Psalms 16: 5-6, “O LORD, You are the portion
of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen
to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.”
Ernestine and Boot were
married on January 11, 1952 and celebrated 43 years together.
Their home was blessed with: two children, Ricky Glisson and Lisa
G. (Dinky) Johnson; four grandchildren, Delbert Linwood “Del” Johnson;
Sherry J. Cannon, William “Will” Gregg (Malena) Johnson and Candace (Rick)
Simmons; and six great grandchildren, Jaelyn, Raegan, Jase, Colby, Jayden
and Isaiah. She also leaves behind: two brothers, David E.
