Diane Tumbleston Mitchum, 71, the widow of George Thomas “Shorty” Mitchum, Sr., departed this life Friday, August 28, 2020 at PruittHealth – Moncks Corner.
Mrs. Mitchum was born the daughter of Heyward Franklin Tumbleston and Helen Voss Tumbleston on November 21, 1948 in Charleston.  She was a member of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church where she served in the Women’s Ministry.    She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a cherished grandmother. 
Diane and Shorty were married on August 16, 1968 and celebrated 44 years together.  Their home was blessed with:  two children, George Thomas Mitchum, Jr. (Tammy) and Tina Louise Bayles (Sammy); five grandchildren, Aleisha Chance (Stephen), Holly Murphy, Cody Thomas Mitchum, Tiffany Renee Bayles, and Zackery Thomas Bayles; and two great-grandsons, Daiton Chance and William Chance.
She was predeceased by:  her parents; and her husband.
A Home Going Celebration will be 3PM, Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Officiating will be Pastor Jack Todd. Interment directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home will follow in the Apple O’Field Cemetery. 
The Mitchum family will receive family and friends prior to the service from               2-3PM in the church sanctuary.
Due to Covid-19, the family asks that everyone please practice social distancing and facemasks are requested.
