David Cecil Young, 79, beloved
husband of Harriot Christeen McKenzie Young, went home to be with the Lord,
Monday, September 7, 2020 at his residence.
Mr. Young was born the son
of Marshall Young and Pearlie Mae Sampson Young on June 23, 1941.
He was a retired Melt Shop Maintenance Supervisor with Georgetown Steel
Mill and was a Vietnam United States Army Veteran. He was part of
the church family at First Assembly of God for over 30 years. David
was a man of strong commitment and trustworthiness as he gave his life
to God, family, and country. He was a devoted husband, loving father,
a caring brother and a loyal friend.
Mr. Young was born the fourth
of five siblings: Betty Carver, James “Buddy” Young, Lucille Rowe (David)
and Joyce New (Larry).
David and Christeen were
married on April 26, 1969 and celebrated 51 years together. Their
home was blessed with: two children, Christopher Young and Kelsi Young.
He also leaves behind: his sisters, Betty, Lucille, and Joyce; a large
number of nieces and nephews; loved as his own grandchildren, Kaitlyn,
Kendall, and “CJ”; and loved as his brother, David (Bobbie) Cusack.
He is predeceased by:
his parents; and a brother, James “Buddy” Young.
Funeral Services with Military
Recognition will be 2PM, Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the First Assembly
of God, 331 St. James St., Georgetown. Interment with Military Honors
will follow in the Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens directed by the Georgetown
Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home
The Young family will receive
family and friends from 6-8PM, Wednesday evening, September 9, 2020 in
the sanctuary of the First Assembly of God.
