Danny Carlie Cox, 73, beloved
husband of Donna Baylor Cox, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September
3, 2019 at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Cox was born the son
of Willie Bethel Cox and Lizzie Mae Alford Cox on April 29, 1946 in Williamsburg
County. He was a retired 37 year employee with Santee Electric and
was the owner-operator of Cox Electric. He was a United States Army
Veteran. Mr. Cox was a faithful member of Friendfield
Presbyterian Church for over 40 years serving as Usher, Deacon, and VBS
coordinator. He was a member of the VFW Post#6444 of Georgetown
and the former Elks Club in Pawleys Island.
Danny and Donna were married
on April 4, 1969 and celebrated 50 years together. Their home was
blessed with: two children, Melinda Cox (Archie Strickland) and Melissa
Cox Thompson; seven grandchildren, Chelsie Miller, LaDon Strickland, Bailey
Turner (Dillon), Sydney Thompson, Danny Thompson, Haden Lambert, and Brantley
Turner. He also leaves behind: three brothers, Rev. Ronnie
Cox, E.W. Cox (Tierra), and Elbert Cox (Diane); and two sisters, Shirley
Cox Strickland (Geniar) and Connie Jo Cox Lambert (Larry); a sister-in-law,
Geraldine “Gere” Cox; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by:
his parents; a grandson, Patrick Thompson; and two brothers, Earl Bethel
Cox and Bobby Benjamin “Benji” Cox.
A Home Going Celebration
with Military Honors will be 2PM, Monday, September 9, 2019 at Friendfield
Presbyterian Church, 4049 Highmarket Street, Georgetown. Internment directed
by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home will follow in the Piney
Forest Cemetery, County Line Road, Andrews, SC.
Visitation will be 6-8PM,
Sunday, September 8, 2019 in the sanctuary of Friendfield Presbyterian
