From the Director Staff
Mr. Poland was born the son of David Aldphus Poland and Henrietta Matilda Hinte Poland-Shiver on June 3, 1944 in Charleston. He was a retired truck driver with William B. Myers, Inc. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, caring brother, and a loyal friend.
He leaves behind: his wife; two children, Christine Poland and David Poland; five grandchildren, Joseph, Michael, Christopher, Jordan, and Brittany; two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Angeline; a brother, Daniel Walker(Ann); and a sister, Judy Bone(Ed).
He was predeceased by: his parents; and a brother, Jack Poland.
A Home Going Celebration will be 4PM, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home, 210 East George Street, Hemingway. Officiating will be Rev. Wayne Elliott. Internment will follow in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery directed by McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Poland family will receive family and friends from 5-7PM, Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Hemingway Chapel.
