Mrs. Dora Bailey Mixon, 99,
the widow of Daniel Gary Mixon, went home to be with the Lord, Monday,
March 18, 2019 at Roper Mount Pleasant Hospital.
Mrs. Mixon was born the
daughter of Samuel Van Buren Bailey and Liley Florence Fortescue Bailey
on February 13, 1920 in Belhaven, NC. She was a member of the Piney
Forest Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher.
She enjoyed fishing and camping. Her greatest enjoyment was spending
time with her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife,
loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a caring sister.
She leaves behind: two daughters,
Lillian M. Mihalakis and Elizabeth M. All; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette
T. Mixon; nine grandchildren, Mark Mihalakis, Anita (Thomas) Mansfield,
Wade Mihalakis, Hailey Mihalakis, Cindy (Reed) Bryan, Scotty (Daphne) Mixon,
Lisa (Stevie) Carl, Jeannie (Charlie) Knight, and Lew (Carla) Howard; nineteen
great-grandchildren; and fifteen great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by:
her parents; her husband; a son, Charlie Gary Mixon; three sisters, Hazel
Coleman, Carrie Capps, and Grace Bailey; three brothers, Guy Bailey, Levi
Bailey, and Charles W. Bailey; and three son-in-laws, George C. Mihalakis,
Dutch Howard, and Butch All.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 11AM, Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Piney Forest Baptist Church.
Officiating will be Rev. Kevin Brown. Internment will follow in the
Piney Forest Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral
Visitation will be
6-8PM, Wednesday evening, March 20, 2019 at the Andrews Chapel, 606 S.
Rosemary Ave, Andrews, SC.
