Gloria Cagle Mercer, 71,
the beloved widow of John Clarence “BoBo” Mercer, Jr., departed this life,
Saturday, July 2, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Mercer was born the
daughter of Carl Calvin Cagle and Retha Fenters Cagle on April 13, 1945
in Hemingway. She was the co-owner and operator; along with her beloved
husband “BoBo”, of their family business – Mercer’s Plumbing and Electric.
She was the first woman in South Carolina to become a license plumber.
BoBo and Gloria were married
on April 14, 1962 and celebrated 53 years together.
She leaves behind:
their Godchildren – Arnie Cribb, Jr. and Gloria Denise Mercer Driggers.
She also leaves behind: two sisters, Joyce C. Owens and Gladys C.
Cribb; a brother, Jimmy (Sara) Cagle; a brother-in-law, Carey (Elaine)
Mercer; a sister-in-law, Gail M. Wilson; and several beloved nieces, nephews,
and cherished friends.
She was predeceased by:
her parents; her husband; three brothers, Carl “Buckshot” Cagle, Henry
Cagle, and Bobby Cagle; two sisters, Ruby C. Boisvert, and Delores C. Durant;
and in-laws, Walter Mercer, Guy Mercer, Lindon Mercer, Gladys M. Carter,
Donny M. Herndon, and Jenny M. Infinger.
A Memorial Service
will be 11AM, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Rose Hill Baptist Church.
Inurnment will follow in the Church Cemetery directed by the Georgetown
Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Cagle-Mercer families
will receive family and friends immediately after the service in the Church
sanctuary.
