Mr. Flowers was born the son of Henry Dewey Flowers and Bessie Louise Newton Flowers on October 11, 1929 in Andrews. He was the owner of Flowers Service Station. He was a member of the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as Missions Director, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Adult Choir member, and Church Elder. He was a devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, and cherished brother; a man of solid character and firm moral standards who leaves a legacy trustworthy and true.
CD and Ann were married on December 13, 1952 and celebrated 61 years together. Their home was blessed with: three children, Carnal “Dewey” Flowers, Jr., Carol Ann Flowers, and Deidra F. (Jerry) Richard; four grandchildren, Ashley F. (Jamey) Eaddy, Christopher Dewey Flowers, Brianna Lynne Richard, Jerry Joseph Richard III; and a great-grandchild, Madyson Delaney Eaddy. He also leaves behind, a sister, Mattie F. Singleton; and two sister-in-laws, Geraldine C. Flowers-Harrelson and Virginia Flowers-Locklear; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by: his parents; two brothers, Samuel “Pete” Flowers and Rev. Leroy Flowers; a sister and her husband, Gertrude F. Wilson and Rev. Marvin Wilson.
A Home Going Celebration will be 2 PM, Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the Andrews Memorial cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6–8 PM, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the church sanctuary.
