Barbara Jean Nesbitt Barrineau, 70, the beloved wife of Charles W. Barrineau,
Sr., finished her earthly race and went home to be with her Lord and join
her waiting loved ones on Thursday evening, August 9, 2018 at MUSC.
Mrs. Barrineau was
born a daughter of Weldon Levine Nesbitt, Sr. and Bertie Lutia Osborne
Nesbitt on March 27, 1948 in Georgetown. She was a 1966 graduate
of Winyah High School; a retired medical receptionist for Dr. Frances Doyle
and Dr. Ernest J. Fox. She was a faithful member of Cana Free Will
Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church and then a charter member of the
Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church. Over the years, her church service
included: Women’s Ministry of which she served as past President and Secretary/Treasurer;
teacher for the Sunday School, VBS, and other programs; and past Director
of the Girls Auxiliary for many years. Though she has battled with
her health for many years, Jean was never deferred from being active
in life with her family, community, and church. She diligently served
and cared for her mother, husband, children and grandchildren when she
was told she should give up. She leaves a legacy of strength, perseverance,
and unfailing love to her family and friends.
Jean and Charles were
married on July 29, 1967 and celebrated 51 years together. Their
home was blessed with: three children, Bertie Caroline Barrineau, Kimberly
B. Hewitt, and Charles W. (Stephanie) Barrineau; six grandchildren, Joshua
Michael (Jamie) Strickland, Megan H. (Arturo) Castro, Steven Lee Hewitt,
Jr., Micah Elias Barrineau, Aiden Jackson Barrineau, and Aliyah Marie Barrineau;
and five great grandchildren, Hanna Lynn Strickland, Kylie Jade Strickland,
Joshua Mason Strickland, Keira Sky Castro, and Scottie Maverick Castro.
She leaves behind: two brothers Weldon Nesbitt, Jr. and Gerald Winston
(Brenda) Nesbitt; one sister, Kathy N. (Al) Wilson; and a large extended
family including, Annette L. Nesbitt, Richard (Sharon) Fulton, and a large
number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased
by: her parents; a brother, Bobby Otto Nesbitt; and two sisters, Shirley
N. Fulton and Exie Mae (Patsy) Bourne and her husband, Frank.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 2PM, Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Rock Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Officiating will be Rev. Mark Wilson, Rev. Susan Todd, and Rev. Tim McKenzie.
Interment directed by McKenzie Funeral Home will follow in the Pennyroyal
