Benjamin Franklin Powell,
71, beloved husband of Eva Mae Sawyer Powell, went home to be with the
Lord Friday, October 14, 2016 at his daughter’s residence.
Mr. Powell was born the
son of Minor Henry Powell and Louise Wilson Powell on August 20, 1945 in
Andrews. He was a retired equipment operator with Kinder-Morgan.
Over the years, he attended the Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church, Christian
Fortress, and Oak Ridge Pentecostal Holiness Church. He enjoyed hunting,
fishing, and especially shad finishing. He was a devoted husband, loving
father, cherished grandfather and caring brother.
Benjamin and Eva were married
on August 12, 1966 and celebrated 50 years together. Their home was
blessed with: two children, Kevin Franklin (Annette) Powell and Kammi P.
(Rhett) Cox; and four grandchildren, Victoria Grace “Tori” Powell, Gabrielle
Faith “Gabi” Powell, Ava Grace Cox, and Sawyer Kate Cox. He also
leave behind: three brothers, TD (Teresa) Powell, Wallace (Ellen)
Powell, and Chaistene (Jane) Powell; and five sisters, Glenda Skipper,
Brenda (Joe) Lowder, Helen Dennis, Lib (Gene) Risher, and Evelyn McSwain.
He was predeceased by:
his parents; and two brothers, Ernest Powell and Francis Powell.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 2PM, Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Earles Pentecostal Holiness
Church. Internment will follow in the Church Cemetery directed by the Andrews
Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Powell family
will receive family and friends immediately after the service in the Church
