Viola Adell Cooper Rogerson,
96, the widow of Edwin Lavalle Rogerson, went home to be with the Lord,
Monday, December 16, 2019 at her residence.
Mrs. Rogerson was born the
daughter of Willie Nathaniel Cooper and Rebecca Jane Cooper Cooper on January
3, 1923 in Blakely, SC. She was a long time member of Duncan Memorial
United Methodist Church. After moving to Kensington in 1989, she
and Lavalle transferred their membership to Herbert Memorial United Methodist
Church. She loved cooking and baking for her loved ones. Her
favorite past times were crocheting and watching Atlanta Braves baseball
and rarely missed a game. More than anything, she loved spending
time with family and friends.
She is survived by:
two children, Edwin “Sonny” Rogerson and Cynthia Coursey; four grandchildren,
Alissa McCall, Brad Rogerson, Angela Church and Pamela Miller(Sam); and
nine great-grandchildren, Coya Darcangelo, Tyler Church, Sarah Church,
Katie Dammon, Allen Damon, Anna Damon, Alex Potterfield, Jayden Potterfield,
and Jaykob Potterfield; and three great-great grandchildren, Madeline,
Marshall, and Grey.
She was predeceased by:
her parents; her husband; a son, Dale Rogerson, a granddaughter, Margaret
“Marcy” Potterfield; a son-in-law, Steve Coursey; two brothers, Benjamin
“Benny” Calhoun Cooper and Willie Nathaniel “Junior” Cooper, Jr.; and three
sisters, Irene Pearl Altman, Ruby Mae McGorty, and Gertice Bodiford.
A Home Going Celebration
will be 2 PM, Friday, December 20, 2019 at Herbert Memorial United Methodist
Church. Internment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery directed by
the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Rogerson family will
receive family and friends prior to the service from 1-2PM in the church
